Amazon Web Services announced on May 27 that 2C2P, a leading payments platform in Southeast Asia and part of Ant International’s Antom, relies on AWS to support millions of daily transactions across six markets and accelerate software modernization using generative artificial intelligence. The company connects more than 400 payment methods in over 150 currencies, serves more than 25 airlines, and operates 600,000 acceptance points throughout the region.
The infrastructure supporting each transaction—including airline bookings and retail checkouts—runs on AWS. The diverse digital economy of Southeast Asia requires handling hundreds of distinct payment methods, multiple currencies, and regulatory requirements unique to each market. Transaction volumes can spike up to thirty times normal levels during major shopping events.
To address these demands, 2C2P developed PACO (Payment Airline Controller), an internal orchestration platform designed for the airline and travel industry. PACO routes transactions through local payment rails, digital wallets, bank transfers, QR payments, and global card networks via a single API. To ensure elasticity and resilience at scale, the company uses several AWS services such as Auto Scaling, Amazon ECS and EKS for scaling capacity; DynamoDB; Lambda; and ElastiCache for performance.
“There are hundreds of different payment ecosystems globally, and our job is to connect and orchestrate them through a single API. In payments, downtime is not an option,” said Worachat Luxkanalode, Group CEO of 2C2P by Antom. “We’ve invested years in building this orchestration capability in-house and have observed productivity gains of 40%. Partners like AWS give us the elastic infrastructure to deliver it reliably at scale across the region.”
To improve efficiency further as transaction volumes increased, 2C2P began adopting generative AI tools from AWS. These include Amazon Bedrock for generating merchant integration code—compressing integration work from days to minutes—and using an AI-powered development environment that has reduced code review times from a week to a day. Additionally, with AWS Transform service, upgrades that once took months now take weeks.
“Southeast Asia’s payments ecosystem is among the most fragmented in the world with over 400 methods across dozens of currencies,” said Vatsun Thirapatarapong, Country Manager at AWS Thailand. “2C2P has turned that complexity into a competitive advantage… We’re excited to help 2C2P embark on their generative AI journey.” Amazon provides services including online shopping as well as cloud computing solutions such as those used by customers like 2C2P, according to its official website.
