Airbnb announced on May 26 that it is partnering with Canadian hockey player Macklin Celebrini to offer a special two-night experience in Toronto during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Celebrini, who was recently named captain of Team Canada for the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship and became the youngest player to make Team Canada for the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, will host guests as part of this initiative. He said, “Growing up with a dad who played professional soccer, I’ve always had a deep respect for the game, even if my life has been spent on the ice. With the FIFA World Cup 2026 coming to Canada, it’s the perfect time to trade skates for cleats. I’m excited to get on the grass, brush up on my pitch skills, and bring fans along for the ride.”
The “Toronto Two-Nighter” includes a two-night stay in Toronto starting July 1—Canada Day—and provides guests with opportunities such as joining Celebrini at soccer practice and playing a match on Toronto Stadium’s pitch alongside Canadian soccer players Dwayne de Rosario and Kadeisha Buchanan on July 3. Airbnb has also donated match tickets to the Steve Nash Foundation at Celebrini’s request; this charity supports underserved children in health, education, and personal development.
Hannah Parish, Country Manager for Airbnb in Canada, said, “As the FIFA World Cup 2026 comes to Canada for the first time, we’re seeing Canadians embrace this historic spotlight in a way that’s uniquely their own. Whether it’s cheering on the home team or experiencing the tournament through a stay in the heart of Toronto, Airbnb is helping fans get closer to the action, the culture, and everything this incredible host city has to offer—and with Macklin leading the charge, we can’t wait to see Canadians trade in their hockey sticks for a little pitch time.”
Fans can request bookings beginning June 2 at airbnb.com/macklin. Five spots are available from July 1–3; each booking accommodates one guest plus one companion. The experiences are free of charge but do not include travel costs.
Airbnb enables hosts to share homes and local experiences worldwide—including entire homes or unique venues—and operates as a marketplace connecting millions of guests with hosts across more than 220 countries and regions, according to its official website.
