Airbnb announced that over 1,000 step-free accessible listings are available in the Paris region, with nearly 300 in the Adapted category. The company has partnered with APF France handicap, para-athletes, and Matterport to raise awareness and support hosts with accessibility features.

According to Airbnb, it is enhancing support for hosts who add accessibility features to their homes by offering resources such as educational content, personalized assistance, and free 3D scans. This initiative aims to increase listings with accessibility features in Paris in anticipation of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The focus is on homes with step-free access to meet rising demand. All added accessibility features are verified by Airbnb, ensuring that guests can find and assess suitable accommodations through detailed listings and photos. Airbnb’s efforts are aligned with the goals of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee.

“Making travel more accessible is an important priority for Airbnb. The Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 are a catalyst for change, and we wanted to help enable as many guests with mobility needs as possible to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event. I’m incredibly proud of the progress we have made with the help of our Hosts and AFP France handicap to reach this significant milestone, and we hope this supply will have a long-lasting legacy on accommodations for people with accessibility needs in the Paris region going forward,” said Clément Eulry, Airbnb country manager for France and Belgium.

Founded in 2007, Airbnb boasts over 5 million Hosts who have welcomed over 1.5 billion guest arrivals across nearly every country globally. According to its About webpage, as of Dec. 31, 2023, Airbnb has had over 7.7 million active listings in 100,000 cities and towns across 220 countries and regions.
