Airbnb commits nearly $30 million to aid fire recovery in Los Angeles

Since the onset of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, Airbnb.org has played a crucial role in providing emergency housing to those displaced. To date, more than 23,000 people have received free housing through the nonprofit, with over 600 individuals still being accommodated.

Airbnb and Airbnb.org are now announcing further commitments to aid recovery and rebuilding efforts in Los Angeles. Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, stated: “We’re deeply committed to helping the Los Angeles community as it continues to recover from the wildfires.” He emphasized that although rebuilding is just beginning, Airbnb intends to support for the long term.

Christoph Gorder, Executive Director of Airbnb.org, noted their pride in having housed thousands affected by the fires. He mentioned their expanded investment will fund Habitat LA’s critical work. Erin Rank, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles expressed gratitude for a $16 million gift supporting their ReBUILD LA campaign. She said this investment would significantly scale efforts to repair and rebuild homes for wildfire survivors across Los Angeles.

Liz Lin, President of the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, acknowledged Airbnb’s support for firefighters during January 2025 wildfires. She highlighted how contributions help equip firefighters with necessary tools.

Lori Gay from Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) praised Airbnb’s ongoing partnership which aids wildfire recovery efforts by stabilizing displaced households and assisting community rebuilding.

Charisse Bremond from Brotherhood Crusade expressed gratitude for Airbnb’s continued support. She emphasized that donations will directly aid their mission to improve life quality for Angelenos impacted by wildfires.

In total, nearly $30 million has been invested by Airbnb and Airbnb.org towards fire relief and recovery efforts in Los Angeles.
