One thing consistently communicated by the community is the importance of affordability and transparency. In response, Airbnb has implemented improvements to its pricing display across its app, beginning with select regions in 2019. As of today, guests worldwide can see the total price of their stay, inclusive of all fees except taxes, from the outset.

Initially launched in parts of Europe, Australia, Canada, and Korea in 2019, Airbnb introduced a toggle feature for total price display in the United States and over 200 other countries two years ago. The feature has since been utilized by nearly 17 million guests, indicating its popularity. Airbnb now adopts this pricing format globally as the standard.

The global implementation allows guests everywhere to view the full cost of their reservations, aiding them in comparing options and making budget-conscious decisions. The company emphasizes that upfront pricing enhances the experience for both guests and hosts.

Over the past year, more than 80% of hosts have used at least one of Airbnb’s tools, such as discounts, promotions, and price tips, which assist them in understanding pricing strategies and setting competitive rates. Hosts are also encouraged to regularly adjust their pricing strategies to maximize guest value.

The company has introduced new features to help guests save, including search tips that highlight potential discounts for extended stays. As a leader in pricing transparency, Airbnb aims to clarify pricing and support host success in a transparent market.

Airbnb believes these changes will foster positive guest experiences throughout the user journey and contribute to the growth of its global community.
