Since 2009, the Amazon Literary Partnership has allocated over $18 million to organizations that support writers across the United States. This year, it will provide $1 million in funding to 99 literary organizations nationwide. These grants aim to empower writers by supporting various programs such as youth-focused writing initiatives, residency programs, publications, and award programs.

The partnership continues its collaboration with the Academy of American Poets on the Poetry Fund and with the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses on the Literary Magazine Fund. Together, they are awarding more than 15 grants each this year.

The grant recipients for 2025 represent more than 25 states, supporting diverse literary activities including magazines, nonprofit small presses, poetry organizations, workshop centers, event-driven organizations, residency programs, and those focused on young writers.

“The debut writers honored by the National Book Foundation’s Five Under 35 program are helping to shape contemporary fiction—we’re grateful to Amazon for its longstanding support of this program,” said Ruth Dickey from the National Book Foundation.

In New York City, various organizations receive support from Amazon Literary Partnership including Electric Literature and One Story from the Literary Magazine Fund. “The Center for Fiction is proud to be a 2025 Amazon Literary Partnership grantee,” expressed Lydah DeBin from The Center for Fiction.

Amazon Literary Partnership also supports initiatives for young writers through projects like #Teen Writers Project and Shout Mouse Press. “This grant from the Amazon Literary Partnership helps us equip immigrant youth…with the support and platform to write children’s books inspired by their lived experiences,” stated Kathy Crutcher from Shout Mouse Press.

Lambda Literary benefits from this year’s grant which aids their Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices. “Lambda Literary is so very excited to continue growing and supporting LGBTQ+ authors,” said Jozie “J. Clapp” Clapp from Lambda Literary.

In addition to these efforts, Seattle Arts & Lectures receives support allowing them to connect authors with audiences. “We are proud that Seattle Arts & Lectures is part of the community of organizations supported by the Amazon Literary Partnership,” remarked Betsey Brock from Seattle Arts & Lectures.

Non-profit publishers like Graywolf Press and Archipelago Books are among those supported. Emma Raddatz of Archipelago Books shared appreciation: “We’re so grateful to the Amazon Literary Partnership.”

New grantees include Miami Book Fair and Arizona Humanities among others. Lissette Mendez of Miami Book Fair expressed gratitude: “We are deeply grateful…for their generous grant in support of our Emerging Writer Fellowships program.”

Marry Gannon of CLMP noted their honor in championing literary magazines: “CLMP is incredibly honored…we are so grateful to Amazon Literary Partnership.”

Ricardo Maldonado from Academy of American Poets acknowledged their gratitude towards Amazon’s commitment: “We’re grateful…this fund is an investment in poetry.”
