Amazon has announced the return of seasonal employees to support its holiday operations, emphasizing safety training and competitive pay. These workers will assist in managing increased demand across fulfillment and delivery centers.

According to a news release by Amazon, each holiday season sees an increase in operations with the addition of seasonal employees, one-third of whom return annually. The company employs a combination of human labor and automated systems, such as Hercules and Robin, to bolster its fulfillment processes. Seasonal employees are stationed at fulfillment and delivery centers, which serve as crucial hubs for handling the heightened holiday demand.

Seasonal employees, whether new or returning, undergo safety training to prepare for their roles. This training includes general safety guidelines, emergency response preparedness, and site-specific information. Workers receive at least $18 per hour and have access to healthcare benefits during their tenure with the company.

One example is Sydney Pineiro, who initially worked at Amazon as a seasonal employee in 2018. After leaving to pursue higher education, she returned years later as an area manager. Her experience underscores the potential for employees to transition between seasonal and full-time roles, offering opportunities for further professional development.

“Once I got my degree, I came back in an exciting new role. My team is so nice and friendly, the work keeps me busy and challenged, and it’s great pay,” said Pineiro.

Amazon provides a wide range of services including online and in-person shopping, delivery of fresh produce, media distribution through platforms like Alexa and Fire TV, cloud solutions via Amazon Web Services (AWS), logistics support, customer service operations, and entertainment offerings such as Amazon Originals, Prime Video, and Audible.
