Amazon has announced the introduction of nine new AWS game-based training experiences. These experiences utilize simulations, interactive challenges, and guided cloud labs to aid professionals in developing practical skills in cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI), according to a company press release.

According to Amazon’s press release, AWS developed these nine interactive game-based learning experiences within AWS Skill Builder. This initiative aims to address the increasing demand for cloud and AI upskilling using research-backed methods. The release indicates that an AWS-commissioned study found that 80% of managers expect their teams to engage with gamified cloud learning within the next year, citing increased engagement and improved knowledge retention. Amazon explains that these experiences—from AWS Cloud Quest to AWS Industry Quest and AWS SimuLearn—offer 3D simulations, virtual customer conversations, and hands-on labs designed to replicate real cloud scenarios for both beginners and advanced learners.

AWS Cloud Quest remains the flagship game-based training program, enabling learners to build real cloud solutions within a guided AWS Management Console environment while earning digital credentials upon completion. The press release details that Cloud Quest now includes new generative AI assignments that teach learners how to build chatbots, generate images from prompts, and automate cloud infrastructure using services like Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Lex V2, and Amazon Q. According to Amazon, Cloud Quest roles—including Generative AI Practitioner, Solutions Architect, Machine Learning Specialist, and Security Specialist—align directly with AWS Certification pathways and assist learners in preparing for in-demand cloud job roles.

The press release also highlights that AWS Industry Quest and AWS Card Clash provide learners with industry-specific and architecture-focused experiences supported by real AWS use cases and solution patterns. Industry Quest teaches cloud architecture for healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing by placing learners in role-based problem-solving scenarios that award digital badges upon completion. Additionally, AWS Card Clash offers a competitive or solo 3D card-based environment where players learn to design scalable AWS architectures, deploy service cards strategically, and practice identifying best-practice AWS design patterns through gameplay—broadening the reach of architecture training.

According to Amazon’s corporate profile, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is described as the world’s most comprehensive cloud platform. It offers more than 240 featured services across compute, storage, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and global networking. The company notes that AWS supports millions of customers—including startups, enterprises, and public-sector agencies—and invests heavily in workforce development through certifications, Skill Builder courses, and training programs like AWS re/Start and AWS Educate. Amazon reports its mission includes expanding cloud and AI literacy worldwide through accessible learning tools such as game-based simulations.
