Amazon announced on May 29 the addition of 500 new scholarships under its Amazon Future Engineer program in India, bringing the total number of active scholars to 2,000. The initiative is aimed at supporting female engineering students from low-income families by providing financial assistance, mentorship, and career opportunities in technology.

The Amazon Future Engineer scholarship offers ₹2 lakh over four years to female students pursuing B.E. or B.Tech degrees in computer science or related fields. In addition to financial support, recipients receive a laptop, technical training through bootcamps, webinars hosted by Amazon Women of the World (WoW), one-on-one mentorship from Amazon engineers, and paid eight-week internship opportunities at Amazon after their second year.

Candi Castleberry, Vice President of Amazon eXperiences and Upskilling, said: “Every student deserves the opportunity to discover their potential. With the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarships, we’re investing in the leaders who will shape the future of work—the talented, determined students in communities across India. The 2026 scholarship recipients demonstrate what’s possible when we create upskilling pathways together and remove the barriers standing between young people and their dreams.”

The expansion was announced during the inaugural Together India Summit as part of Amazon’s ongoing efforts to build pathways into technology careers. Together at Amazon is an internal initiative designed to help employees grow through skills development and community engagement. In This Together extends similar support externally to students and business owners seeking opportunities with Amazon.

Launched with 200 scholars in 2022, the program has increased its annual scholarships since then. Scholars are chosen based on academic merit, financial need, and leadership potential through a rigorous selection process. The first cohort graduated in 2025 with an 89% placement rate; graduates have secured positions at Fortune 500 companies including Amazon itself. Approximately 400 scholars have completed internships at Amazon so far.

Amazon operates globally as an e-commerce and technology company offering services such as online shopping, cloud computing, streaming entertainment, digital devices, and advertising, according to its official website.
