Amazon Pharmacy has expanded its RxPass subscription service, aiming to make medications more affordable and accessible for Prime members across the United States. The service offers over 50 commonly prescribed generic medications for a flat fee of $5 per month, regardless of the number of prescriptions a customer requires. Delivery is included at no additional cost.

RxPass operates independently from insurance plans and is now available in 48 states. This expansion comes as nearly half of the U.S. population manages at least one chronic health condition such as diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease. According to the company, about 17% of Americans live far from a pharmacy, making access to medication challenging.

“At a time when nearly half of the U.S. population is managing chronic conditions, bringing affordable and convenient access to medications through our expansion of RxPass to customers in 48 U.S. states will help many manage their conditions more easily,” said John Love, vice president of Amazon Pharmacy. “Amazon Pharmacy will continue to leverage Amazon’s customer-obsessed approach and extensive delivery network infrastructure to ensure customers enjoy the ease and convenience of managing their health through fast medication delivery.”

Prime members can enroll in RxPass through the Amazon Pharmacy website or mobile app by signing into their accounts and providing prescription information or transferring existing prescriptions from other pharmacies. Once enrolled, all eligible medications are covered under one monthly payment with no need for deductibles or copays.

The service also extends to Medicare beneficiaries, who may save around $70 per year on eligible medications with RxPass.

“Many customers, especially the older population face multiple barriers when managing chronic conditions which could be life altering,” said Tess Carey, a senior pharmacist at Amazon Pharmacy. “With RxPass many customers can enjoy the benefits of having affordable, reliable medication access which will increase adherence to help save many lives.”

Pharmacists are available around-the-clock for support and questions related to prescriptions managed through Amazon Pharmacy.

Additional benefits for Prime members include features such as free home delivery and real-time order status updates.
