Amazon has announced a partnership between its cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) to utilize generative artificial intelligence (AI) for enhancing operational efficiency, supporting software development, and strengthening reliability in U.S. financial markets. This information was released through a press statement.

According to Business Wire, the OCC, recognized as the world’s largest equity derivatives clearing organization, has successfully integrated AWS’s generative AI technologies to streamline its development operations. The collaboration aims to advance automation in software testing, deployment, and documentation while ensuring compliance with U.S. financial regulatory standards. The leadership at OCC highlighted that AWS’s secure and scalable cloud framework is crucial for maintaining operational continuity across its essential clearing and settlement functions.

The OCC reported that implementing generative AI via AWS reduced the time spent on documenting software tests by up to 80%, leading to significant productivity improvements for its development teams. The system also enhanced deployment efficiency by identifying code issues earlier in the development cycle. Furthermore, AI-powered automation simplified knowledge management processes, including creating release notes and technical documentation, thereby facilitating more effective information sharing among teams.

Scott Mullins, AWS Managing Director of Worldwide Financial Services, emphasized that OCC’s success illustrates the transformative potential of generative AI within financial services. According to Reuters, AWS’s GenAI capabilities—powered by Amazon Bedrock and advanced model orchestration—are increasingly being adopted by financial market utilities for secure and compliant innovation. The case of OCC serves as a model for how systemically important institutions can responsibly integrate AI into critical market infrastructure.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com Inc., is described as the world’s most comprehensive and widely adopted cloud platform, offering over 240 fully featured services across 38 global regions. AWS provides secure and scalable cloud computing and AI solutions supporting enterprises, financial institutions, and government agencies worldwide with a mission to enable innovation through advanced technology infrastructure.
