Amazon has released an update outlining its ongoing investments in community programs, economic development, and employee support initiatives across Seattle, Bellevue, and the greater Puget Sound region. This information was shared through a press release.

According to Amazon’s report, the company is deepening its community engagement throughout the Puget Sound area, where it employs over 65,000 people. The update highlights initiatives focused on improving housing affordability, sustainability, and workforce development. Amazon states that its long-term success in the region is linked to strengthening local communities and fostering inclusive economic growth across Seattle and Bellevue.

The Seattle Times reports that since 2021, Amazon has invested more than $2.2 billion in affordable housing projects across the Puget Sound region through its Housing Equity Fund. These efforts have supported the creation and preservation of over 8,000 affordable homes near transit hubs and job centers. This initiative is one of the largest private-sector commitments to housing affordability in the Pacific Northwest.

Puget Sound Business Journal notes that Amazon’s local economic impact extends beyond employment. In 2024, the company contributed an estimated $23 billion to Washington State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through jobs, supply chain spending, and infrastructure investments. Amazon’s partnerships with area nonprofits—including FareStart, Mary’s Place, and the University of Washington—continue to advance education, hunger relief, and sustainability initiatives.
