Amazon has launched its new online platform, Amazon.ie, in Ireland. The website offers over 200 million products with pricing in Euro and provides fast delivery options. Irish customers can expect One-Day Delivery on numerous items and can shop without facing additional customs charges. Additionally, the platform will feature a dedicated “Brands of Ireland” page to support local businesses.

Alison Dunn, Ireland’s country manager at Amazon, expressed enthusiasm about the launch: “Our teams across the country are unbelievably proud and incredibly excited to launch Amazon.ie.” She emphasized the benefits for both consumers and local businesses.

The launch was praised by Micheál Martin, Taoiseach of Ireland: “This expansion by Amazon will give consumers more choice and better value.” Peter Burke, Ireland’s minister for Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment, noted it as a sign of Amazon’s ongoing commitment to the country.

To celebrate the opening, Irish celebrities such as Westlife’s Nicky Byrne and Shay Given participated in special deliveries to fans. Vogue Williams also joined in the festivities.

Amazon Prime is now available locally for €6.99 per month or €69.90 annually on Amazon.ie. Benefits include fast delivery, exclusive deals like Prime Day events, access to Prime Video content including live sports, free games via Prime Gaming, unlimited photo storage through Amazon Photos, and partner offers from Deliveroo Plus Silver and Odeon cinemas.

James Madden from Swifter remarked on the positive impact for Irish brands: “The launch of Amazon.ie is great news for Irish businesses and consumers.”

Amazon’s presence in Ireland dates back to 2004 with significant investments totaling over €22 billion. It employs around 6,500 people across Cork, Dublin, and Drogheda. In 2023 alone, Irish small businesses using Amazon recorded over €170 million in export sales.

The company also continues its environmental efforts with an expanding fleet of electric vehicles aimed at reducing emissions during deliveries worldwide.
