In a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play, “Hedda,” Tessa Thompson stars as Hedda Gabler, a woman caught between her unresolved feelings for a former lover and the monotony of her current life. The story follows Hedda as suppressed emotions and hidden conflicts surface, leading her and those around her into a cycle of manipulation and betrayal.
The film debuted at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and is set for a limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles starting October 22. “Hedda” will be available to stream on Prime Video beginning October 29. All Prime members can watch the film at no extra cost as part of their subscription.
Nia DaCosta directed and wrote the screenplay for “Hedda.” The cast features Tessa Thompson, Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss.
