Amazon has announced a discounted Prime membership tailored for young adults and higher education students. The membership offers the same benefits as a regular Prime subscription but at half the cost. Eligible individuals, aged 18-24 or those in higher education, can start with a six-month trial via amazon.com/joinstudent. Following the trial, the membership is available for $7.49 monthly or $69 annually.

Prime Access, another discounted option, is available for qualifying government assistance recipients and income-verified customers at $6.99 per month.

“Prime is savings, convenience, and entertainment all in a single membership,” states Amazon about its service that includes unlimited fast delivery, exclusive deals, and streaming options on Prime Video.

The young adult membership offers additional perks such as discounts on travel through StudentUniverse, an online travel agency providing reduced rates to students. Members receive an extra 10% off flights booked through StudentUniverse and an Amazon gift card worth 10% of hotel bookings.

Subscribers can also expand their Prime Video experience by adding premium channels like Showtime and EPIX at reduced rates. Moreover, they have access to Amazon Music Unlimited at a discounted rate of $5.99 per month for four years, offering over 100 million songs and top podcasts without ads.
