Amazon has opened a new corporate office in Singapore, serving as the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia Pacific Hub. The facility was inaugurated by Dr. Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information. This office aims to support agile working, learning, and collaboration as AWS expands its operations in Southeast Asia.

The new office is located at IOI Central Boulevard’s East Tower and covers over 360,000 square feet, accommodating up to 3,000 employees. It is Amazon’s second corporate office in Singapore’s Central Business District. Currently, Amazon employs more than 2,500 people across various functions in Singapore and plans to expand further with over 100 job openings.

AWS has committed an additional S$12 billion investment into Singapore’s cloud infrastructure from 2024 to 2028. This investment is expected to contribute S$23.7 billion to Singapore’s GDP by 2028 and support around 12,300 full-time equivalent jobs annually.

Jeff Johnson, Managing Director of ASEAN at AWS, stated: “AWS’s new regional office in Singapore represents our deepening commitment to Singapore and serves as a strategic hub for digital transformation across ASEAN.” He added that the launch marks Amazon’s 15th year in Singapore.

The office spans eight floors and will house over 100 teams supporting AWS and other corporate functions. It will serve as a strategic hub for digital transformation across the region. The space is designed for co-working sessions, innovation rooms for brainstorming, technical workshops, and networking events.

Features of the new AWS office include an Inclusion and Sustainability Gallery showcasing Amazon’s milestones in climate action and diversity initiatives; the first flagship Executive Briefing Center in Asia; an upcoming Innovation Hub; a Candidate Experience Center; spaces celebrating Asian culture; recreational areas with amenities like game tables; breakout areas for discussions; training rooms with video-conferencing capabilities; ergonomic workstations; individual lockers; quiet rooms; and phone booths.
