“Our employees are the heart and soul of our operation, and we want to show extra appreciation for their hard work during busy shopping events like Prime Day,” said Tomay. “Sites are buzzing with excitement during the event, and leaders arrange things like barbecues and ping-pong tournaments to build on that energy and thank our employees for everything they do.”
Amazon’s Prime Day 2025 set new records, becoming the largest sales event in the company’s history, according to a company release. Over four days, more items were sold than during any previous Prime Day. According to Jae Garcia, a senior operations manager at one of the largest delivery stations on the West Coast, preparations have been underway for months. Garcia and his team have been building staffing plans and conducting safety drills to ensure a seamless experience for customers and a safe environment for employees.

Staffing is increased across fulfillment centers—where items are picked and packed—and delivery stations, which are the final stop before orders reach customers. Teams develop detailed operational “playbooks” and conduct regular training sessions to reinforce safety protocols. Safety remains a top priority, with injury rates requiring more than basic first aid declining by 34% over five years due to enhanced training and ergonomic practices.
On a typical Prime Day, Garcia’s delivery station can see up to 600 people cycling through the facility, including drivers, support staff, and leadership. Every detail is considered—from extra microwaves and restrooms to food availability and heat safety measures for summer shifts. With third-party delivery companies playing an essential role, Amazon ensures that both in-house teams and Delivery Service Partners are well-equipped.
