An analysis of lawn mowing trends across more than 100 U.S. cities shows that Friday is the most popular day for grass cutting, with over a quarter of cities favoring it as the top choice. The data review highlights how homeowners prefer their lawns trimmed before the weekend to enjoy outdoor spaces in peak condition.

According to the findings, Tuesday and Wednesday are also common days for lawn care visits. Lawn service providers often need flexibility due to unpredictable weather and scheduling constraints, especially in regions prone to sudden storms. Some neighborhoods and homeowners associations restrict weekend mowing, limiting available workdays.

The report found notable regional differences. In southeastern states such as Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, both Tuesday and Friday are frequent choices, influenced by year-round mowing needs and HOA rules. Texas and surrounding areas show preferences for Tuesday and Saturday, while Midwest cities like Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Columbus lean toward Friday or Wednesday. On the West Coast and Northwest, midweek days see a broader distribution of mowing appointments due to shorter growing seasons.

For many customers, the day their lawn is cut is significant but often overlooked during sign-up with a provider. When schedules fill up—especially on Fridays or Saturdays—it can be difficult to change later on.

Some landscaping businesses use a 10-day rotation schedule rather than sticking strictly to weekly or biweekly services. This system means that clients’ mow days may shift from week to week but allows companies to manage larger client lists efficiently.

“GreenPal helps you find a provider who services on the day you need,” according to company information.

Customers seeking consistent service should inquire about scheduling policies before committing or plan ahead if they require a specific mow day for an event or gathering.

GreenPal offers an online platform where users can enter their address and preferences—including desired service day—and receive bids from local professionals who match those requirements. In some cases, same-day or next-day appointments are available through this system (https://www.yourgreenpal.com/).

“GreenPal helps you compare bids and find a company that mows your lawn on the best day for you,” GreenPal stated in its announcement.

The analysis suggests that while choosing a mowing day might seem minor, it affects customer satisfaction and enjoyment of home spaces—especially ahead of weekends or special occasions.
