Apex Legends has surpassed 170 million registered users and continues to maintain a strong presence among online games, with an average of over 111,600 concurrent players on Steam as of March 2026.
The game’s sustained popularity highlights its ongoing appeal within the competitive first-person shooter genre. Since its launch in February 2019, Apex Legends quickly set records by reaching significant registration milestones—10 million in just three days and 50 million within a month.
Current data shows that only about 20 to 22 million players are active across all platforms, with roughly one-tenth playing daily. The majority of the player base is male (70%), and the average age is just over twenty-three years old. Regional distribution indicates that more than a quarter of players are from the United States, followed by Japan and the United Kingdom. Cross-platform monthly active users currently stand at around eighteen million.
On Steam alone, peak concurrent players hit nearly three hundred thousand for the first time in twenty months during the last thirty days leading up to April. The highest all-time peak was recorded in February 2023 with over six hundred thousand concurrent players. Monthly averages have fluctuated but remain robust compared to other titles.
Apex Legends’ demographic breakdown reveals that almost half of its players are between twenty-one and thirty-five years old, while a third are teenagers or young adults under twenty-one. Player motivations vary: some seek improvement or recognition, while others play casually.
Looking ahead, Apex Legends plans to close services on Nintendo Switch by August but will allow existing accounts to migrate seamlessly to Nintendo Switch 2 without loss of progress or purchases. With $3.4 billion in lifetime net bookings through March 2024 and seven awards earned since launch, Apex Legends remains one of Electronic Arts’ top-performing multiplayer titles.
