Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Fitch Group have announced a new multi-year strategic collaboration to enhance Fitch’s technological capabilities. This partnership focuses on advancing Fitch’s digital transformation and leveraging generative AI across its global operations.

The agreement includes the use of Amazon Q Developer, which has reportedly improved developer productivity and modernized code at Fitch. The tool provides real-time code recommendations, documentation assistance, and troubleshooting support, streamlining development workflows.

Fitch is also utilizing Amazon Q Transform for application modernization, particularly in updating legacy Java applications. This effort is part of Fitch’s strategy to prepare its technology platform for future innovations in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

“Our collaboration with AWS, particularly through Amazon Q Developer, has enhanced our approach to software development and modernization,” said Andrew Collyer, Chief Information Officer at Fitch Group. “We’ve seen about 20% improvement in productivity amongst builders using Amazon Q Developer.”

Additionally, the collaboration includes enhancing data streaming capabilities through Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK), which Fitch uses as their primary data streaming platform. This enhances disaster recovery and compliance while providing customers low-latency access to critical business data.

“This renewed collaboration with AWS shows our dedication to top-notch technology and innovation,” Collyer stated. He highlighted that MSK Replicator has significantly improved their streaming data capabilities on AWS.

Scott Mullins from AWS Financial Services commented: “This strategic agreement represents a significant expansion of the existing longstanding relationship between AWS and Fitch Group.”

Fitch Group operates in over 30 countries as a leader in financial information services, offering credit ratings, research, commentary, and financial data globally. The company is a subsidiary of Hearst Corporation.
