AWS has launched the AWS Cloud Institute, a virtual training program designed to prepare individuals for careers as cloud developers with a focus on artificial intelligence. The program can be completed in as little as nine months and does not require prior experience.

The curriculum includes nine self-paced digital courses, over 100 interactive labs, two capstone projects, and three vouchers for AWS certification exams. Learners develop a professional portfolio by solving real-world business challenges using AI and cloud technologies.

“AWS Cloud Institute provides a prescriptive path to gaining the technical and professional skills needed to start a career as an AI-savvy cloud developer in as little as 9 months,” according to AWS.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023, only half of workers have access to adequate training opportunities despite rapid growth in technology-driven roles. The AWS Cloud Institute aims to address this gap by training a diverse workforce capable of tackling real-world problems with AI and cloud solutions.

The program was developed by AWS experts with input from customers and partners who are seeking employees skilled in cloud technologies. Courses cover foundational topics such as computer technology, architecting on AWS, databases, networking, security, storage, Python programming, machine learning, data analytics, generative AI using Amazon Q Developer, and sustainability. Capstone projects require learners to design applications that demonstrate their ability to use AWS services and Python code for practical solutions.

Learners also receive exam preparation support and three vouchers for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, and AWS Certified Developer Associate exams. Graduates earn an official certificate from the institute.

The total cost of completing the program is $5,670 plus tax—a reduction from its previous price—making it more accessible. Payment plans are available based on course load: $210 per month for one course at a time; $420 for two; or $630 for three courses per quarter. Full-time students can finish in nine months while part-time learners may take up to 27 months.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent but do not need higher education degrees or work experience.

AWS continues to expand its educational offerings with more than 135 trainings on artificial intelligence and machine learning available at various levels of expertise.
