Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), a leading provider of telematics services, has announced the expansion of its AI-based mobility platform in Saudi Arabia. The company is deploying its technology using Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically leveraging AWS Outposts and AWS Direct Connect, to comply with local data residency, security, and performance requirements.
The move marks CMT as the first telematics provider to implement AWS Outposts within Saudi Arabia. This deployment enables real-time analysis of driving behavior for insurers, mobility firms, and public agencies. The company’s DriveWell Fusion platform uses artificial intelligence and sensor fusion to deliver these insights.

CMT’s presence in the region supports a new nationwide telematics initiative led by Najm for Insurance Services Company. This initiative seeks to improve road safety by changing how driving risk is measured across Saudi Arabia. Mr. Mohammed Y. Al Shehri, CEO of Najm, stated: “This initiative will help reduce crashes and death rates, and protect everyone from road hazards, helping meet the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.”
The technical infrastructure relies on a hybrid model combining on-premises processing via AWS Outposts inside Saudi Arabia with access to additional AWS services through a dedicated connection to the AWS Bahrain Region using AWS Direct Connect. This approach allows CMT to fulfill regulatory requirements without limiting scalability or performance.
