DoorDash has announced updates on its portable benefits pilot program in Pennsylvania, with approximately 4,400 Dashers enrolled. The program assists Dashers in utilizing funds for health insurance, retirement, paid time off, and emergency savings.

According to DoorDash’s press release, Dashers enrolled in the program have shared plans to use the funds for various needs such as medical expenses, retirement savings, and emergencies. As of the close of the enrollment period, 23% of eligible participants signed up for the program. DoorDash has disbursed over $440,000 to participants, with an average initial deposit of $100 per Dasher. The funds can be used for health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, retirement, paid time off, and other essential expenses.

A survey conducted in May revealed that 91% of Dashers believe the program would be beneficial and 90% support legislation for portable benefits. The program is designed for Dashers who earn the most on the platform and particularly those who need access to benefits through other sources such as a full-time job.

Dashers who earned at least $1,000 in DoorDash pay in the previous three months were invited to join the pilot. They received an additional 4% in deposits from DoorDash on earnings between April and September. The program allows Dashers to choose how to spend their benefits based on their individual needs.

Founded in 2013, DoorDash is a tech company linking consumers with local businesses across more than 25 nations globally. It provides solutions to bolster business expansion and customer engagement.
