GreenPal announced on Apr. 7 that homeowners can save time and money by using online platforms to obtain multiple bids for lawn care services, instead of calling individual providers. The company said that comparing several quotes ensures competitive pricing and helps customers find qualified professionals more efficiently.

The process of getting multiple bids is important because it allows homeowners to secure better deals and assess the qualifications of various service providers. GreenPal said that most consumer protection agencies recommend obtaining at least three quotes before hiring a contractor, as this creates competition among landscapers and encourages them to offer more competitive prices.

According to GreenPal, calling local businesses directly often leads to challenges such as availability concerns, delays due to phone tag, the need for on-site estimates, uncertainty about provider qualifications, and significant time investment. The company said these issues frequently result in higher costs or settling for fewer options than are available through online platforms.

Marketplace apps like GreenPal streamline the process by allowing contractors who are ready to work to respond directly to homeowner requests posted on the platform. Homeowners can view quoted prices, reviews from previous clients, project photos, and reliability ratings all in one place. GreenPal reported that within about 24 hours of posting a job request on its app, homeowners typically receive five bids from interested providers.

The company recommends a five-step approach for comparing lawn mowing bids: collect standardized quotes within budget; determine what each bid includes; compare pricing relative to service frequency; check reviews and provider experience; and consider factors such as responsiveness or proximity before making contact through the app’s messaging system.

Looking ahead, GreenPal encourages homeowners seeking landscaping or other yard services—such as snow or leaf removal—to use its platform for finding reliable contractors quickly. The company said this approach fosters trust between contractors and clients while simplifying the hiring process.
