Halle Berry teams up with Uber to support families displaced by LA wildfires

Actress Halle Berry has partnered with Uber, the global mobility platform known for rides and delivery services, to provide resources and deliver essentials to families displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires. She announced this collaboration in a January 12 post on Instagram.

According to her post, Berry has joined forces with Uber to assist families affected by the LA wildfires. She collaborated with Shopcoopla and Nickey Kehoe to gather clothes and toys for those in need. Uber drivers are responsible for delivering these donated items directly to the homes of displaced families.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports that the January 2025 LA wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton Fires, burned more than 40,000 acres and destroyed over 12,300 structures. These fires prompted evacuation orders and warnings for up to 200,000 residents. The Palisades Fire consumed nearly 24,000 acres, while the Eaton Fire devasaid over 14,000 acres. These incidents rank among the most destructive in California’s history.

According to its website, since 2020, Uber has provided more than 10 million free trips, meals, and deliveries globally to support first responders, vulnerable families, and victims of domestic violence. Partnering with over 200 organizations in 54 countries, Uber also delivered prescriptions in South Africa and meals in the United States. Additionally, Uber invested $50 million in personal protective equipment (PPE) for drivers and offered financial assistance to those diagnosed with COVID-19.

Uber is a global technology company connecting people and goods through ridesharing, delivery, and freight services. According to its website, the company is committed to sustainability, safety, and inclusivity.
