Self-described as “the fun lady at the end of the bar with a lot of opinions and only half of the information,” comedian Kathleen Madigan is set to release a new stand-up special titled “Kathleen Madigan: The Family Thread.” The special will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting Friday, November 21. It is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and 1904, Inc., with executive producers including Kathleen Madigan, John Irwin, and Jodi Urness.
In this one-hour comedy special, Madigan addresses topics such as gambling as math education, Midwest pioneers, her four cats, aging parents, and modern church competition. The show highlights her comedic style and approach to everyday subjects.
Prime Video subscribers can watch “Kathleen Madigan: The Family Thread” as part of their membership. An Amazon Prime subscription costs $14.99 per month or $139 annually. Membership includes access to streaming content along with benefits like fast shipping and exclusive deals.
Amazon also provides discounted Prime memberships for certain groups. Young adults aged 18–24 and college students can try Prime for Young Adults with a six-month trial before paying $7.49 per month or $69 per year. Those receiving qualifying government assistance can use Prime Access, which offers a 30-day trial followed by a monthly fee of $6.99.
Kathleen Madigan has previously released six one-hour stand-up specials, including her 2023 special “Hunting Bigfoot” on Prime Video, which won Interrobang’s 2023 Comedy Special of the Year as voted by fans. Over her career, she has made more than 40 appearances on late-night and daytime talk shows and appeared on “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” with Jerry Seinfeld. Her specials have aired on platforms such as Prime Video, Netflix, HBO Max, Showtime, and Comedy Central.
During the pandemic in 2020, Madigan launched “Madigan’s Pubcast,” which has surpassed 10 million streams across over 200 episodes.
Other new releases coming to Prime Video in October include films like “Play Dirty,” animated series such as “Hazbin Hotel,” sports programming, and additional fresh episodes of various shows.
