A new romantic comedy from Korea, “The Divorce Insurance,” is now available for streaming on Prime Video. The series is gaining attention for its fresh perspective on themes of love, marriage, and romance in the workplace.

The story follows No Ki-jun, a successful actuary and product developer, played by Lee Dong-wook, known for his role in “Tale of the Nine Tailed”. Ki-jun devises a unique insurance product aimed at couples with a 50% chance of separating. The plot is personal to Ki-jun, who has been through three divorces himself, and thickens as he develops feelings for a new colleague, Kang Han-Deul. Lee Joo-bin plays Kang, who is attempting to move past her own difficult divorce.

Lee Dong-wook remarked, “I thought that the show really brought something new to the table… The overall message of this series is not about whether divorce is good or bad, but rather that divorce is just a part of life.”

Lee Joo-bin, who has never married, was captivated by the script, which she felt offered authentic portrayals of divorce cases. She said, “All of the characters are so fascinating, and all of these very gripping incidents happen in the script.”

Complications arise when Jeon Na-Rae, one of Ki-jun’s ex-wives played by Lee Da-hee, joins the project to help bring his insurance idea to fruition. Lee Da-hee added, “My character, Na-rae, is unapologetically true to herself… I hope The Divorce Insurance encourages viewers to reflect on what it means to live true to themselves, rather than seeing divorce in a negative light.”

The cast also includes Lee Kwang-soo, portraying An Jeon-man, a risk-surveyor and childhood friend of Ki-jun. He finds common ground with Na-Rae, igniting further interest within the story.
