Lawn care demand is increasing most rapidly in areas experiencing high rates of new residents, construction, and home turnover, according to an April 9 report from GreenPal. The data shows that while large metropolitan centers have traditionally led the market, smaller cities and outer suburbs are now seeing significant growth.
This trend is important because it reflects changing patterns in where people live and invest in their homes. Lawn care services are becoming a regular part of life not only for city dwellers but also for those moving into expanding suburbs and small towns.
The report highlights that Nashville stands out with four local ZIP codes (37206, 37216, 37207, 37209) among the top ten for lawn care bookings. This suggests that lawn maintenance has become routine for many homeowners there. Meanwhile, the largest percentage increases are being recorded in places like Blountville, Tennessee (+655%), Landis, North Carolina (+641%), and Commerce City, Colorado (+607%). These jumps point to a spillover of housing demand from major urban cores into nearby communities.
Other notable trends include strong growth in Houston suburbs such as Katy (77449) and Richmond (77494), as well as military-influenced Clarksville’s ZIP code near Fort Campbell. Smaller cities like Alachua, Florida; Crete, Illinois; and Bella Vista, Arkansas also show rising demand as families seek more space outside larger cities.
Regionally, the Southeast leads with several fast-growing markets in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida. The Midwest is also emerging with increased activity outside Chicago and other major hubs. Western metro areas such as Denver are expanding outward into surrounding suburbs.
For homeowners across these regions—whether in established metros or small towns—professional lawn care is becoming standard practice due to time constraints or frequent moves. Vendors operating in these emerging markets can benefit by establishing themselves early amid rising service needs.
