League of Legends continues to maintain a strong presence in the global gaming industry, with daily active users ranging from 7.5 to 10 million as of early 2026. The game, which is among the top 10 most popular worldwide, saw peak daily traffic reach 35 million during the release of its 2024 patch.
Data shows that League of Legends reached its highest monthly active user count in 2022 and 2023, peaking at approximately 152 million players. Since then, numbers have declined slightly, with around 131 million monthly active users reported for 2025. In February 2026, the average number of monthly active users was about 33.5 million, following fluctuations throughout the previous year.
The player base is predominantly young adults; about 64% are between ages 18 and 24. Those aged below 18 account for just 10%, while only about 4% are over age 30. Gender demographics indicate that male players make up roughly 87% of users, with female players at about 12%, and non-binary individuals representing just 1%. According to Riot Research: “97% of female players exclusively choose female champions.” It also noted: “Male players show a preference of approximately 50/50 for male and female champions.”
Regionally, Asia leads in player numbers. China alone has an estimated 70 million monthly active users and South Korea has about 20 million. Europe follows with a combined total of between 20 and 25 million users, while North America accounts for approximately 15 million.
Player rankings show that most participants are grouped within Bronze (18%), Silver (25%), and Gold (25%) tiers. Higher ranks such as Diamond represent a much smaller portion—about 3.6%—of the community.
League of Legends forms part of a wider global gaming population that reached an estimated total of over three billion gamers by early-2026.
Breakdowns by month reveal notable shifts in engagement; for example, there was a reported drop in monthly active users by about ten percent from January to February this year.
