Lyft announced its partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign, becoming the first rideshare company to join the initiative. The campaign introduces a human trafficking prevention tutorial in the Lyft app for drivers.

According to a press release by Lyft, the company has collaborated with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign to develop this new tutorial. Accessible in the Lyft app, it is designed to enhance driver awareness by incorporating specialized knowledge from DHS on identifying and addressing human trafficking and complements Lyft’s current training on the topic.

The initiative is part of Lyft’s broader commitment to safety and community protection. The tutorial includes updated information and best practices, reflecting the latest developments in human trafficking prevention. Additionally, according to a press release by Lyft, the company continues to work with its Safety Advisory Council to improve its safety protocols and features.

“The Department of Homeland Security is committed to bringing a whole-of-society approach to our counter-human trafficking mission,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas, according to a press release by Lyft. “By partnering with key private sector leaders like Lyft – whose drivers interact with millions of riders every year – we are better able to shine a light on this heinous crime; identify, protect, and support victims; and bring perpetrators to justice. I am grateful for Lyft’s continued commitment to combating the scourge of human trafficking and encourage other stakeholders to join us in this critical work.”

Lyft is a transportation network company that provides ride-hailing services through its mobile app. Founded in 2012, Lyft offers a range of services including standard rides, luxury options, and shared rides, operating primarily in North America. The company focuses on leveraging technology to connect drivers with passengers, aiming to offer convenient and reliable transportation solutions.
