Montefiore Health System has chosen Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its strategic cloud provider. This partnership is expected to enhance Montefiore’s digital healthcare ecosystem by utilizing technology to improve patient-centered care across the communities it serves.

The initiative involves transitioning most of Montefiore’s technology portfolio, including electronic health record applications, to the AWS Cloud. This move aims to improve resiliency and innovation within Montefiore’s technology framework, while also enhancing scalability, data security, and cost efficiency. AWS will provide the capacity for rapid deployment and testing of new healthcare solutions, as well as opportunities in AI and advanced technologies for analytics, collaboration, research, and professional education.

“AWS is at the forefront of cloud innovation, and this partnership is an important step in advancing healthcare delivery and enhancing patient care,” stated Deepesh Chandra, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer at Montefiore Einstein. “Migrating to the cloud is a fundamental part of Montefiore’s ongoing technology transformation.”

Montefiore Health System emphasizes the importance of embracing modern technology to improve efficiency and streamline workflows in a connected hospital environment. The integration of these technologies aims to enhance system reliability and ensure seamless access to information for smooth patient care delivery. As a cloud provider, AWS offers robust reliability, security, data privacy, and resilient EHR architecture for continuous access to medical records.

“We are proud to work with forward-thinking healthcare organizations like Montefiore that are adopting cloud technology,” said Allyson Fryhoff, Managing Director of Global Healthcare & Life Sciences at AWS. “Unlocking the power of healthcare data starting with running Epic on AWS will enable end-to-end improvements.”

In January, Montefiore announced another collaboration with Amazon One Medical to expand access to coordinated primary and specialty care in Westchester County and surrounding areas in New York.
