Photography enthusiasts in New York City recently participated in a workshop led by photographer Luiz Claudio and Nikon, hosted at a Peerspace venue in Bushwick. The event offered attendees the chance to use the new Nikon Z6III camera.
The workshop aimed to teach both amateur and experienced photographers about portrait photography. Participants learned about indoor photography, lighting techniques, and creative composition under Luiz’s guidance. Luiz utilized Gymnopedie, a multi-room production studio with seven spaces, for the workshop.
“I was looking for the perfect place to make my dream come true in New York City,” Luiz stated. “Finding an app that filters all your needs and offers you the best locations saves a lot of time. I was looking for a large place with different scenes and an old school vibe, as well as a place that offered lighting equipment for rent.”
Gymnopedie provided over 1,800 square feet of space with various setups. One area featured a retro classroom setting with vintage desks and moody lighting, while another had twenty-one televisions casting a blue glow on models. These settings allowed for experimentation with storytelling and conceptual photography.
Using state-of-the-art equipment like the Nikon Z6III alongside the unique Peerspace environment, participants were encouraged to expand their skills in capturing portraits.
