Amazon has announced its lineup of new movies, series, and live sports coming to Prime Video in October. The streaming service will feature original films and documentaries as well as a range of live sporting events for Amazon Prime members.
Among the highlighted releases is “Play Dirty,” an action thriller directed by Shane Black, debuting on October 1. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as an expert thief who, with his crew including characters played by LaKeith Stanfield and Rosa Salazar, finds themselves at odds with the New York mob.
Other Amazon Originals launching this month include “Maintenance Required” on October 8. This romantic comedy from Lacey Uhlemeyer follows Madelaine Petsch’s character Charlie, the owner of an all-female mechanic shop facing competition from a new corporate rival. On October 9, the documentary “Saquon,” executive produced by Martin Scorsese, documents Saquon Barkley’s path to Super Bowl success with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The following day brings “John Candy: I Like Me,” a documentary featuring archival material and interviews about the late comedian. The film includes appearances from Dan Aykroyd, Mel Brooks, Eugene Levy, and Steve Martin.
On October 16, the Spanish-language film “Culpa Nuestra” (“Our Fault”) concludes its trilogy with a story of reconciliation between two main characters after their breakup.
For younger viewers, “The Chosen Adventures” debuts on October 17. The show follows Abby and Joshua as they experience life in ancient Capernaum alongside Jesus of Nazareth.
Prime Video also adds thrillers such as “Harlan Coben’s Lazarus” on October 22 and docuseries like “Allen Iv3rson” about the basketball player’s influence on NBA culture on October 23. Animation fans can watch “Hazbin Hotel,” premiering October 29; it follows Charlie, princess of Hell, trying to rehabilitate demons.
October closes with titles like “Hedda,” a modern retelling of Henrik Ibsen’s play starring Tessa Thompson (October 29), and two international series: Spain’s “Dime tu nombre” and Brazil’s prison drama miniseries “Tremembé,” both available on October 31.
Prime Video continues to offer live sports programming for subscribers. In October, members can stream NBA games such as Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks (October 24) and Los Angeles Lakers vs. Memphis Grizzlies (October 31). NWSL soccer matches will be shown throughout the month along with ONE Championship fights. NHL games featuring the Seattle Kraken are also included in the schedule.
Thursday Night Football returns with matchups including San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams (October 2) and Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins (October 30).
In addition to new content, Prime Video is adding classic films such as “Braveheart,” “Erin Brockovich,” several James Bond movies including “Casino Royale” and “Goldfinger,” as well as recent releases like “House of Gucci” and “No Time to Die.” A full list of additions covers various genres spanning decades.
These offerings reflect Amazon’s ongoing effort to expand its streaming catalog for Prime members by introducing original productions alongside licensed titles while continuing its focus on sports broadcasting rights.
