The fantasy television series, “The Wheel of Time,” is set to return for its third season on Prime Video. The show, which began airing in 2021, is based on the book series by Robert Jordan and has become a significant title within the high fantasy genre.

Prime Video will premiere Season 3 on March 13. The upcoming season draws from “The Shadow Rising,” the fourth book in the original series published in 1992. The storyline involves a farm boy discovering he is the Dragon Reborn, destined to face a monumental battle between good and evil.

The narrative of “The Wheel of Time” is built around the One Power, a magical force that powers this universe. It enables channelers to perform acts such as healing and defense. Among those who wield this power are the Aes Sedai, a group primarily composed of women, due to historical events that prevent men from safely channeling without risking madness.

A central character is Moiraine Damodred, portrayed by Rosamund Pike, an Aes Sedai tasked with finding and guiding Rand al’Thor—identified as the Dragon Reborn. As Season 2 concluded, Rand’s identity was confirmed, although threats like Ishamael and other Forsaken followers remain.

“The Wheel of Time” also focuses on five friends from Two Rivers: Nynaeve al’Meara (ZoĂ« Robins), Egwene al’Vere (Madeleine Madden), Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), and Mat Cauthon (DĂłnal Finn). These characters embark on a journey led by Moiraine amid self-discovery and growing friendships.

Season 3 will see Rand pursued by Forsaken members like Lanfear and challenged with choosing between Light and Dark forces. His journey continues with guidance from his mentor Moiraine and his first love Egwene.

As they navigate their roles in an epic struggle against the Dark One—a malevolent entity seeking control—the stakes grow higher for these characters who stand at a crucial point in their world’s history.
