Shipt highlights learning experiences from 2025 summer internship program

Shipt concluded its sixth annual summer internship program, welcoming nearly two dozen interns from a range of colleges and universities. The participants worked across several departments including Engineering, Product, Operations, and Marketing.

Lisa Von Feldt, Vice President of Talent Acquisition, People Operations, and Strategy at Shipt, highlighted the impact of this year’s group: “Our 2025 intern class brought new ideas, fresh energy, and a lot of heart to Shipt this summer. Working with them was a great reminder of what’s possible when we invest in the next generation of talent, and we’re so grateful for the significant impact they had on the business in such a short period of time.”

The internship program is structured around four pillars: Exposure, Development, Involvement and Community. Megan H., Talent Acquisition Program Manager at Shipt and recipient of RippleMatch’s Pathfinder award for her work sourcing intern talent, led this year’s cohort.

Interns contributed to projects that ranged from developing internal tools to creating data-driven solutions aimed at improving user experience. Camille G., an intern on the Finance Team, shared: “The most impactful part of this internship has been my project . . . because the Finance team and Partner Success and Sales team will use it for future decision-making and guidance. [My] project [was] brought up during a call, and co-workers came up to ask me what it is I’m doing. [It was] cool to have a relevant project as an intern!”

Participants also engaged in professional development activities such as job shadowing outside their assigned roles and attending sessions focused on public speaking and career growth. They were paired with mentors throughout the program.

Ricardo Vargas, Chief People & Community Officer at Shipt, addressed interns during the Leadership Coffee Connection Series: “Listen to your gut. Be curious.” He discussed his personal approach called “First Year Aspirations,” which he uses when entering new roles as a guide for impact and action.

Makenzie S., an intern on Shipt’s Marketing team commented on her experience: “The most impactful part of this internship is the people. Coming into an internship is super scary because you could be considered just the intern, but here I actually feel a part of the team.”

At the end-of-summer Intern Showcase event, Marion O., an Engineering intern at Shipt reflected: “I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot this summer, [and I learned] it’s okay to not know. Everyone was really communicative, [and] offered help. I’m really happy that I got to intern at Shipt.”

As interns return to their campuses or move forward in their careers, company leaders expressed confidence that they will carry with them both practical skills gained over the summer as well as values central to Shipt’s culture.
