Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., and TwelveLabs have announced a collaboration to bring TwelveLabs’ advanced video AI models to Amazon Bedrock. This service allows developers access to high-performing AI models from prominent companies through a single API, enabling more efficient and insightful video content analysis while maintaining AWS’s security and privacy standards. AWS is the first cloud provider to integrate models from TwelveLabs.

Jae Lee, Co-founder and CEO of TwelveLabs, highlighted the importance of video data: “Video contains nearly 80% of the world’s data, yet most of it remains unsearchable and underutilized.” By integrating their models into Amazon Bedrock, they aim to enhance video data accessibility for enterprises, facilitating swift searches and analysis of video content.

TwelveLabs’ technology reportedly transforms previously unsearchable video data into valuable information. For instance, it can help sports networks or broadcasters easily search for specific moments in vast video libraries. Their models boast features like natural language video search, multimodal AI processing, and temporal intelligence for event correlation.

According to Humza Teherany, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, the collaboration helps in “accelerating our ability to create smarter, more immersive experiences for fans.”

The integration into Amazon Bedrock enables AWS customers to develop AI applications without handling complex infrastructure. Samira Panah Bakhtiar, AWS’s General Manager for Media & Entertainment, noted the transformative potential: “Over the last year, I have consistently said that natural language semantic search is a ‘strategic unlock’ for our entertainment customers.”

This initiative serves multiple industries, including media, entertainment, and sports, offering benefits like efficient content management and new monetization opportunities. Monks, an integration partner, emphasized the ease and security this brings to creating and scaling video applications.

TwelveLabs is committed to expanding its AI capabilities across various sectors, leveraging AWS’s infrastructure for improved model training and deployment.
