The U.S. Census Bureau released new data on Mar. 26 from the Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey, known as HTOPS, covering topics such as food and nutrition, health and well-being, transportation, employment, education, and more.

The release provides information for both the nation and smaller geographic areas defined by the Census Bureau. The survey aims to give a snapshot of socioeconomic conditions facing U.S. households.

According to the Census Bureau, about 30,000 households were sampled in April 2025 for this round of data collection. Data users can access the HTOPS dataset as a public-use file to create customized tables.

HTOPS is described as an experimental data product collected every other month on core and rotating topics. The survey delivers information that federal agencies can use to assess conditions, monitor trends, and inform operational or policy needs.

Additional HTOPS data collected later in 2025 are expected to be released in the coming months.
