Uber Technologies, Inc. recently recognized Joshua Cavallero, who has used his social media influence to support fellow couriers in need. Known for his popular online presence, Joshua played a critical role in helping an injured colleague receive much-needed assistance.

After learning that fellow UberEats cyclist Kevin Ross was making deliveries with a broken foot, Cavallero shared the story on social media, quickly raising over $2,500 to help Ross with his medical bills and rent.

“Joshua has used his social media platform not just to share his experiences as a courier, but to help others in need,” said Camiel Irving, General Manager for Uber Rides, US & Canada. “He’s a true hero within the Uber community.”

With over a million followers on social media, Joshua has made an impact both online and within the local courier community.

“Super honored to have received the award titled DC Hero from a company that I have built my own lane from. But also speechless that they have that view on me,” Cavallero posted to Instagram. “Thank you again to everyone.”

The recognition was given during an Uber event in October where the company debuted several new safety and accessibility features on their apps which were intended to improve driver and courier safety and improve contractor specific features.

Other drivers recognized during the event included Peter Boatang, Naveed Aslalm, Tilahun Semu, and Titus Mbeh.
