Uber has announced a promotion aimed at teenage users, offering complimentary rides and meal deliveries throughout September.

The initiative allows new riders aged 13-17 who sign up for an Uber Teen Account to receive free rides and meals for the entire month. Each teen can take advantage of up to six rides and six meal orders, with a maximum value of $20 per order. The promotion runs from September 1 to September 30.

“Going back to school should have some perks,” an Uber spokesperson stated, highlighting the program’s goal to ease the transition for both parents and students.

In addition to this offer for teens, Uber is extending a separate promotion for college students aged 18 and older. New subscribers to Uber One for Students, the company’s membership program, will receive a four-week free trial. This membership provides discounts from popular brands, including Starbucks, Domino’s, Taco Bell, Wendy’s, and Insomnia Cookies.

Uber’s teen accounts program requires drivers and curriers who are matched with teen customers to be screened beforehand, and are required to pass the screenings annually to be able to participate in the program. The accounts allow parents to monitor the location and safety of their children while using services from the company.

All essential rideshare safety features are automatically enabled for teenage users and cannot be disabled. This includes popular features like PIN verification and RideCheck. Additionally, if teens opt to set up the Audio Recording feature, it will also be activated for all trips. Riders will always have access to safety tools during their journeys, including the ability to call 911, contact Uber Support, or report any issues directly through the app.
