Uber Pet allows riders to bring their pets along for the ride. By accepting an Uber Pet request, drivers agree to allow the passenger’s pet in their vehicle. Uber Pet rides function similarly to UberX rides, with the key difference being the presence of a pet. Drivers receive an additional fee for accommodating pets.

The majority of Uber Pet requests involve dogs or cats, and riders may bring one pet per ride. Drivers have the discretion to cancel any ride they are uncomfortable with or if more than one pet is brought along. Other types of animals are permitted at the driver’s discretion. Animals should not be aggressive or unruly; otherwise, drivers can refuse transportation.

According to Uber’s service animal policy, “a service animal is an animal that is trained to work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.” Service animals are always allowed on Uber rides at no additional cost, regardless of whether it is an Uber Pet trip. Federal and local laws may also mandate accommodation without extra fees. Service animals do not need tags, registration, or proof of status.

To turn on Uber Pet, drivers should navigate to settings, select the Uber Pet prompt, click “Turn On,” and confirm opt-in via their preferences screen. To turn off Uber Pet, drivers can disable requests in settings by unselecting Uber Pet under preferences.

Minor issues such as pet hair or odors do not result in cleaning fees. However, significant messes like urine or deep scratches warrant standard cleaning fees determined by damage severity. In such cases, drivers should contact Uber support for reimbursement upon submitting a receipt.

Driving with Uber Pet can be rewarding by offering pet-friendly rides while earning extra money. Understanding policies around service animals, knowing how to opt-in and out of Uber Pet, and preparing for potential messes ensures a smooth experience for both drivers and passengers.
