United Airlines and Instacart have announced a partnership aimed at providing new benefits for United MileagePlus loyalty members. Starting immediately, MileagePlus members can access $0 delivery fees on Instacart grocery orders placed just before, during, or shortly after domestic United flights. This offer is designed to help travelers restock groceries or purchase forgotten items conveniently while traveling.

Ryan Hamburger, Vice President of Commercial Partnerships for Instacart, stated: “With Instacart, travelers can spend less time running errands and more time enjoying the journey and the destination – and now, United MileagePlus members can enjoy added benefits when they link their account to Instacart. We’re excited to make the convenience of Instacart – whether shopping at home or while traveling – even more rewarding for United MileagePlus members. This partnership solidifies Instacart’s position as a critical piece of the journey, ensuring our customers have everything they need, wherever they are.”

Richard Nunn, CEO of United MileagePlus, said: “We’re always looking for new ways to make our loyalty program even more valuable for our members and the partners we choose go a long way towards making travel – and life – easier and more rewarding. This Instacart collaboration gives members the peace of mind to know they can add groceries and other essentials at just about any stage of their trip – from making sure that order is waiting for them when they check into their rental property to stocking up at home so they can hit the ground running when they return. All while earning miles along the way.”

The collaboration allows new Instacart users who are also MileagePlus members to earn 5,000 bonus miles after signing up with Instacart and completing four qualifying orders within eight weeks. Members who enroll in an annual paid Instacart+ membership through this offer receive an additional 5,000 miles if they keep their membership active for at least 30 days. Existing Instacart users who link accounts will receive 500 miles after placing a qualifying order.

Once activated around a domestic U.S. flight booking with United Airlines, eligible members get seven days of $0 delivery fees on orders over $10 (with some service fees still applying). Costco purchases require a minimum order value of $35.

Both companies say these measures aim to make travel smoother by integrating essential shopping into the travel experience. The initiative also involves targeted messaging through Kinective Media by United Airlines across channels like the airline’s app and in-flight entertainment systems.

United operates hubs in several major U.S. cities including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco, and Washington D.C., maintaining what it says is North America’s most comprehensive route network.
