Zinnia, a technology company in the life and annuity insurance sector, has migrated its core order entry solution, AnnuityNet, to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The migration means that over 55% of digital annuity sales submitted by banks and broker-dealers in the United States are now processed on AWS infrastructure.

The company stated that this move is intended to modernize technology for annuity distribution. According to Zinnia, clients can expect improved performance, resilience, and scalability as a result of this transition. The shift comes at a time when the industry is seeking greater speed and efficiency.

“At Zinnia, innovation drives how we deliver solutions that make annuities more accessible,” said Hilani Kerr, Head of Wealth and Distribution Platforms at Zinnia. “Our migration to AWS is the latest moment in our continual journey to enable faster time to market and more scalable growth further simplifying the annuity buying experience for all stakeholders.”

Zinnia supports eight of the top ten banks and 18 of the top 20 annuity producers in the country with its platform. The AWS implementation aims to provide unified environments and scalable infrastructure for peak processing periods. It also introduces event-driven architecture for real-time integrations.

To facilitate this large-scale migration, Zinnia is using AWS’s Migration Acceleration Program (MAP), which helps organizations transition their systems to cloud-based platforms. This includes migrating data warehouses as well as commission and document management systems.

“Insurance tech businesses like Zinnia are at the forefront of digital transformation,” said Scott Mullins, Director of Worldwide Financial Services Business Development at AWS. “By leveraging AWS’s comprehensive suite of cloud services, Zinnia has been able to modernize systems and enhance customer experiences that are reshaping the insurance landscape. We’re proud to support Zinnia’s innovation journey and look forward to seeing how they continue to transform the life and annuity marketplace.”

Zinnia plans for all future deployments on its platform to be cloud-native.

AWS provides a wide range of cloud services used by many businesses worldwide seeking security, reliability, scalability, and cost savings through global data centers (https://aws.amazon.com/).
