The gig economy in the U.S. is growing as a larger percentage of those in the workforce have become full-time freelancers and nearly one-third of all U.S. workers were found to have done some freelance work, according to Yahoo.com.

Citing an analysis by Nation 1099, Yahoo.com reported 11% of all U.S. workers are full-time freelancers, and approximately 22% have done some type of gig job.

With the rise in the gig workforce, there are hundreds of sites coming online for everything from dog walking, website creation, financial consulting and even voiceover work.

Some sites that are more well know include Fiverr, and Upwork, but Yahoo also reports Babierge, Upwork and Efynch are up and coming.

Another website, Flexible Work News, also caters to the gig worker.

Flexible Work News, the only exclusive gig economy and flexible workspace focused site in the nation, announced it will extend the availability of sponsorship spots on its website.

Flexible Work News is seeking to foster partnerships with business and industry leaders who can become sponsors on their site. The website and the leaders can collaborate on the pressing issues companies are facing in today's market.

"We cover the news from a freelancer's perspective, for a freelancer's perspective, filtering through the daily headlines while hunting for the most relevant advice and intelligence for the 'free agents,'" according to a presentation by the company.

"Gather a like-minded audience and get them together around MEDIA not politics...The opportunity to sponsor ANY section. Sponsor a hiring board, a gas calculator, a ride sharing tips section (from the expert - and position your drivers as the experts)," according to the presentation. From tax advice, polls, policy updates and news, including success stories from industry contractors, are highlighted sections for Flexible Work News.

According to Outsource Accelerator, gig platforms offer benefits for the worker and companies. Citing the pandemic, the site reported more than 36% of the workers were on gig economy platforms for numerous career opportunities.

"Gig economy platforms benefit both the workers and businesses. Small business owners primarily, take full-advantage of gig workers as they are able to save more money," Outsource Accelerator reported. "Gig economy platforms provide working arrangements that apply to people’s needs and flexible lifestyles at present. More so, remote work is made even more possible with the use of these platforms."

FinancesOnline.com reported that the top three industries for freelancers are arts and design, entertainment and construction. The three countries which have the highest number of gig workers are Brazil, the United States and the United Kingdom. The "gig economy's market was worth $248.3 billion in 2019 and was estimated to reach $296.7 billion in 2020," the finance site reported. In addition, the population of U.S. freelancers is projected to be 90.1 million by 2028.

With the growth of the gig economy, sites like Flexibleworknews.com will continue to cater to the growing workforce. Flexibleworknews.com’s specialty is assisting gig employers with the tools and information to thrive in the market.
