DoorDash has announced the reimagining of its New York office space, reflecting its commitment to a flexible workplace model that balances in-person and remote work to support its employees' various needs.
The new office space is three times bigger than the previous office and is located in the Flatiron district, a recent release from the company said. It has a total area of 57,691 square feet and incorporates flexible workplace design principles, placing an emphasis on a variety of work points and space types. The business made the decision to reimagine its office space after receiving comments from local workers regarding the factors that were most important to them.
There are open gathering spaces for team onsites, reservable private spaces intended for focused work, and confidential work areas such as phone booths, meeting rooms, and dedicated Do Not Disturb focus areas in the space. In addition, there is a café along with a large all-hands event space, workstations that allow users to recline or stand, and a designated area for training. The location is well suited to meet the varied requirements of the DoorDash team, as it provides an abundance of natural light as well as an outdoor rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of Madison Square Park.
"Our New York office reflects this diversity; we have teammates from every team and function at DoorDash represented," Katie Egan, chief of staff at DoorDash's New York office, said in the release. "We are excited to open a collaborative space of our own, deepen DoorDash's roots in the city, and further enable our teammates to do our very best work for merchants, Dashers, and our community."
DoorDash is of the opinion that excellent work can be accomplished anywhere, and the company is aware that the components of in-person and remote work will vary depending on the degree of dispersion of each team and the nature of the work performed by each team. The redesigned office space in New York satisfies DoorDash's Flexible Workplace Model requirements. This provides employees with the ability to determine how they want to leverage remote work and time spent together in person to solve complex problems, learn within a community, and celebrate victories together.
DoorDash is excited about the prospect of introducing captivating and collaborative in-person experiences that will cater to its teams' diverse requirements. The organization has continued to cultivate a culture of innovation and is taking on new challenges across its entire business since moving into its new workplace space.
