Uber and Waymo have collaborated to introduce a new service in Phoenix that will revolutionize the way food is delivered to customers. The partnership, which initially focused on autonomous rides, has now expanded to include Uber Eats deliveries via Waymo vehicles in select areas of Phoenix.

Customers in Tempe, Mesa, and Chandler will now have the opportunity to have their food orders delivered by autonomous vehicles from local merchants such as Princess Pita, Filiberto’s, and BoSa Donuts. The process is simple - when placing an order through the Uber Eats app in Phoenix, customers will receive a prompt indicating the possibility of their order being delivered by an autonomous vehicle. They will also have the choice to opt-out and have their items delivered by a courier if preferred. Upon the vehicle's arrival, customers will be notified through the app to unlock the vehicle using their phone and collect their order.

The decision to incorporate food delivery into the Uber and Waymo partnership aligns with the companies' shared goal of promoting zero-emission transportation and fostering innovation for consumers and businesses in Phoenix and beyond.

In a statement, Uber and Waymo expressed their excitement about the new venture, with a message to the Phoenix community: "If you’re in the Phoenix area, we look forward to serving you soon!"
