Amazon has announced a partnership with Rivian to deploy 100,000 electric delivery vehicles by 2030 and is developing a new, advanced delivery vehicle. This initiative supports Amazon's 2019 Climate Pledge to achieve net-zero carbon by 2040.

As part of the White House’s EV Acceleration Challenge, Amazon will soon announce an expansion of its electric delivery vehicle fleet, featuring Rivian vehicles in Greater Cincinnati and other Ohio cities such as Akron, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo. This initiative is part of Amazon's commitment to have 100,000 electric vehicles on the road by 2030. Since launching in 2022, Amazon's fleet now includes over 13,500 Rivian electric vehicles delivering in more than 500 U.S. cities. These zero-emission vehicles have already delivered over 580 million packages.

According to Amazon’s press release, the custom electric vehicles have advanced safety and navigation features, including 360-degree visibility, sensor detection, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, collision warnings, and seamless integration with the delivery workflow, enhancing driver experience and efficiency.

Amazon's electric delivery vans were introduced in summer 2022 and now exceed 15,000 units across the U.S., with deployment also occurring in Europe. Over 300 vans have started operations in Germany. These custom vans have delivered over 800 million packages and feature advanced safety and navigation technology. Amazon has installed over 17,000 chargers to support them.

The company is investing in additional electric vehicle models and exploring alternative fuel options to further reduce emissions and support its decarbonization goals.

Amazon provides a range of services including online and in-person shopping, delivery of fresh produce, media distribution through various devices like Alexa and Fire TV, and cloud solutions via Amazon Web Services (AWS). Its operations include logistics and customer service while also delivering entertainment through platforms like Amazon Originals, Prime Video, and Audible.
