Uber has launched its Uber Ski service across Europe, offering Belgian skiers a convenient way to reach ski resorts. The service is available in seven countries: France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Poland, Spain, and Sweden.
The new service allows travelers to book rides equipped with ski and snowboard racks from major transportation hubs like airports and train stations directly to their ski destinations. Fixed-price fares start at €49 for up to five passengers, providing an affordable option for those heading to the slopes.
Laurent Slits, General Manager of Uber Belgium, highlighted the convenience of this service for Belgian skiers. "We know how much Belgians love skiing with many traveling to the most popular ski resorts to enjoy a week in the fresh air," he said. "Rather than driving long distances by car, Uber Ski offers a convenient alternative for Belgian skiers heading to their ski resort."
The launch comes as demand for Uber's services in winter tourist hotspots continues to rise. Data from winter 2024 indicated that international customer demand more than doubled in popular resorts such as Val Thorens and Courchevel in France, Söll in Germany, Kitzbühel in Austria, and Gstaad in Switzerland.
Uber Ski aims to provide seamless travel experiences for those starting their journey from cities like Brussels, Antwerp, Liège, Gent or Charleroi. By using public transport before booking an Uber ride at their destination country’s hub station or airport, travelers can avoid long car journeys.
Slits emphasized the growing trend among Belgians seeking flexible mobility solutions: "Belgians are increasingly looking for flexible and convenient mobility solutions," he noted. "Uber Ski is the perfect way to complement their winter travel plans."
This new initiative seeks not only to ease travel but also caters specifically towards enhancing comfort during winter getaways throughout Europe’s renowned alpine locations.
