Uber has announced the introduction of new travel options in Italy, aiming to cater to the influx of tourists expected on the Amalfi Coast this summer. The company will launch Uber Copter and Uber Boat services through its app, offering travelers private helicopter rides and luxury cruises.
The Uber Copter service allows users to book helicopter transfers between Sorrento and Capri. This service departs from a helipad in Sorrento and accommodates up to six people per trip at a cost of €250 per person. Transfers to and from the helicopter are included for any location along the Amalfi Coast.
For those interested in exploring the coast by sea, Uber Boat provides private charters for up to 12 people. Departing from Sorrento Marina, these four-hour cruises offer guests an experience aboard an Italian Gozzo 35 boat, complete with a personal skipper and complimentary refreshments.
These services can be reserved via the Uber app starting June 25th and require booking at least 48 hours in advance. They will operate every weekend from July 26th to August 24th.
Additionally, Uber is expanding its ground transportation options with Uber Reserve along the Amalfi Coast. This feature allows travelers to book rides ahead of time, helping them avoid airport crowds during peak tourist season following new international flights at Salerno Airport.
Anabel Diaz, Vice President of EMEA Mobility at Uber, stated: “At Uber, we strive to help our customers go anywhere, wherever they are traveling. Italy is fast becoming one of our most popular tourist destinations."
The launch aims to meet growing demand for mobility services in Italy's tourist areas. Data indicates that last summer saw a 25% increase in demand from international customers in locations such as Rome, Lake Como, and the Amalfi Coast. Over 400,000 international users utilized the Uber app in Italy last year alone.
It should be noted that availability for both Uber Copter and Uber Boat is limited and subject to weather conditions. The cost for an entire helicopter trip between Sorrento and Capri is €1500.
