Amazon is set to open a new clothing store in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale later this year.
The store — Amazon Style — will feature apparel for women and men, shoes and accessories from both emerging and well-known brands.
"Very excited to share this with customers. We're opening Amazon Style, our first-ever physical store for apparel. It will be located in L.A. and use machine learning and a unique store design to create a customized experience for each shopper," Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO, said Jan. 20 on Twitter.
The physical store will feature one size and color of an item, and customers will be able to log in and scan a QR code that displays other sizes and colors in inventory at the back of the store, CNBC reported.
Amazon Style's fitting rooms will also follow a more high-tech approach with a touchscreen display that allows customers to request different sizing options, as reported by CNBC. It was designed to be the customer's "personal space" where they can keep shopping a seemingly endless selection of looks without having to leave. Items will be delivered to the shopper's closet within minutes. Customers can also rate the items using the touchscreen and get real-time recommendations.
