DoorDash recently revealed the opening of a DoorDash Kitchens Brooklyn location inside Nimbus.

The new shared kitchen will bring together five local, regional, and national restaurants, according to a DoorDash news release. The collaboration will enable the restaurants to reach more customers without having to open their own brick-and-mortar locations. The five restaurant partners are DOMODOMO, Kings Co Imperial, Pies 'n' Thighs, moonbowls, and Little Caesars.

"New York is one of the many hubs for noteworthy dining experiences, and we're proud to bring DoorDash Kitchens to Brooklyn in partnership with Nimbus, adding even more options for food-lovers to choose from in their neighborhood," Ruth Isenstadt, senior director of DoorDash Kitchens, said in the news release. "While this location is delivery-forward in nature to enable the growth of restaurant partners, we're looking forward to offering a dine-in area for upwards of 20 guests – a first for DoorDash Kitchens."

Nimbus is a company that offers commercial kitchen space to makers and consumers, according to Upserve. Camilla Opperman, NImbus' co-founder and CEO, told DoorDash that the company looks forward to the partnership.

"We're proud to partner with DoorDash by providing turn-key kitchen infrastructure and community event spaces to their restaurant partners," Opperman said in the news release. "DoorDash has fiercely advocated for the growth of these restaurants by supporting their delivery and pick-up operations, so we're thrilled to complement these efforts by managing the real estate, supporting kitchen operations, and running events from our community front-of-house."

Upserve noted that 60% of American consumers reported ordering food for takeout or delivery at least once a week, while almost one-third reported using third-party delivery apps at least twice per week. Over one-third of consumers said they spend at least $50 on average per order when ordering meals online.

Restaurants reported an increase of 10% to 20% in sales volume when working with third-party platforms, according to Upserve.
